1. Identify yourself.

Every message you send should clearly identify you (the party that is messaging the recipient) as the sender, except in follow-up messages of an ongoing conversation.

2. Provide the ability to opt-out.

You can choose whether or not to include an opt-out option in your messages. This can be done by utilizing out "Add: Text STOP to unsubscribe" toggle switch in the messaging pane, or you can type your own version.

Note: Even if you don't include instructions, Emissary will automatically remove an individual from further messages if they reply with a standard opt-out response keyword. See our 'Opt-out' article for more information on those keywords, how to update this manually, and how to block users.

3) Use the URL Shortener.

Always use the link shortener we provide inside Emissary if you want to send URL links. This will save you save space on the character limit and help prevent the message from be viewed as spam.

4) Utilize our Templates feature.

To save yourself time when sending the same message frequently, utilize our Templates feature where you can create and store custom templates that can be plugged into any 1-to-1 Texting conversation.

We also suggest you use our Variables feature to keep messages personalized in this process!

5) Craft crisp content.

When you send any text message, be clever, engaging, and brief. Provide your contact with an offer they can’t refuse or information that really matters. If you don’t strike the right balance, you run the risk of opt-outs and your precious contact list rapidly shrinking.
