Collision Avoidance

See when a teammate has already texted a contact, so you can avoid duplicate outreach.

Collision Avoidance shows a blue group icon on any conversation when someone else in your organization has already texted that contact.

The icon helps you avoid duplicate outreach and crossed wires when you and your teammates text from overlapping pools of applicants or employees. Before you send a message, a quick glance tells you whether a colleague has already been in touch.

Where to find it

The blue group icon appears in two places:

  • In your inbox list, at the start of the tag row under the conversation preview.

  • At the top of an open conversation, in the row of actions next to the contact's name.

If you don't see the icon, no one else in your organization has texted that contact yet.

What you'll see when you hover

Hover over the blue group icon to see who else has been in contact. What appears depends on your access level.

Turning on additional access

Additional access lets teammates view each other's conversations from the Collision Avoidance icon. It can be set up in either of two ways:

  • Account admins can configure additional access for users in their organization.

  • Emissary Support can configure it for you. Reach out to our support team and let us know which users should be able to see each other's inboxes.

Only turn on additional access for teammates who should be able to read each other's conversations.

FAQ

Do I need to turn Collision Avoidance on? No. It is available to all users automatically.

Can my teammates read my messages because of this feature? Not by default. Without additional access, teammates only see your phone number and when you last contacted the individual.

Does the icon stop me from sending a message? No. It's an alert, not a block. Use it to check with your teammate before reaching out so the contact doesn't receive duplicate messages.
